Are you struggling with a separation and wondering “how can I survive my breakup“? It is very common to feel lost after the break up of a relationship. You may feel that a part of you has died. When you are in a relationship, your personality does somewhat merge with the personality of your partner. So when it is over, a part of you is drastically different.

Many people make the mistake of thinking they have to dive right into a new relationship. They think that they can not emotionally make it by themselves. It is very hard to be by yourself when you are used to having someone there with you. You begin to wonder if you can survive the breakup without going crazy.

You should turn to friends and family at this time, not another partner. Go out and have fun with friends. Spend time with your family. Stay busy with activities and hobbies that you enjoy. The busier you are, the less you will think about the break up. Slowly in time, you will think less and less about it. You will survive the breakup, it will just take time.

Take time to discover the new you – the one without your ex partner. Spend some quiet time reflecting on how you want your life to proceed. Visualize what you will be doing in the future. Meditation audios are helpful to relax and calm your worries and fears. They relieve stress and help you to delve into the real you.

Before you start a new relationship, you need to figure out exactly what qualities you would like in a new partner. Start by writing a list of the qualities you expect. Sometimes it helps to write down what you don’t want in order to figure out what you do want. Such as – I don’t want someone who is always jealous. Turn it around to say – I want someone who is trusting.

Think about what went wrong in your last relationship, what compromises you made, and how your next relationship will be different.

Remember, you don’t need to rush into a new relationship. Rebound romances never work out. Take the time you need to recover from the break up. The right person for you will appear when you least expect it. Don’t ask “how can I survive my breakup?”, ask “how can I improve my life and be happier?”.

Before you start dating again, I suggest that you read the below book. It is an excellent guide filled with great advice to get you back dating again the right way. Click here to find out more about it.
